A Mother’s Courage in South Punjab, Pakistan: Asma’s Disability Journey Supported by Tariqs’
This story is about a 40-year-old woman named Asma from South Punjab, Pakistan, who has been living with polio since childhood. Despite her disability, she is a strong and loving mother to her 5-year-old son, who is currently going to school. Asma is a housewife who manages her home and takes care of her child with great courage, even though every day brings physical and emotional challenges due to her condition.
Living with disability in Pakistan is not easy, especially for a mother like Asma who has to balance motherhood and daily responsibilities without proper mobility support. Her life was full of difficulties, as even basic tasks required immense effort. However, her situation began to change when she received a customised wheelchair, gifted by Tariqs’. This wheelchair gave her not only mobility but also dignity, independence, and hope to live her life with more confidence.
This support was made possible through Niaz Support, an initiative dedicated to helping people with disabilities in Pakistan. Asma’s journey reflects the reality of disability in Pakistan and the silent strength of mothers who never give up on their families. Today, she continues her life with renewed hope, holding onto her son and moving forward with strength, proving that compassion and support can truly transform lives.
