Mrs. Asghari Khannum Brings Hope to Sohail in Madaklasht, Lower Chitral

Sohail is a child with Cerebral Palsy, also known as CP, from Madaklasht, a remote valley in Lower Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For nearly thirty years, he has been living with pain, weakness, and a fragile body. In many northern areas of Pakistan, families are still not fully aware of disabilities like CP. They often understand such conditions only as “paidaishi,” without knowing the medical name or the lifelong challenges attached to it. Through its work with many children and adults facing similar conditions, Niaz Support has seen cases like Sohail’s before and understands that his disability is Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects movement, strength, posture, and daily physical independence. Sohail cannot walk and he cannot speak, yet his father says he understands everything. He recognizes guests, understands the presence of people around him, and quietly feels the love, concern, and emotions that surround him. For years, his father has carried him with tired arms and a heavy heart, helping him move from one place to another and struggling even with basic daily needs like taking him to the bathroom.
