Hope After the Storm: Ilma Nur’s Journey of Strength and Dreams “My name is Ilma Nur. I am in Grade 3, and I want to become a doctor.” There was quiet strength in her voice, but behind that dream was a story shaped by loss, resilience, and hope. Ilma’s father lost his leg during the devastating floods and landslides in Pakistan’s northern areas while helping his community restore damaged water channels. What began as an effort to rebuild lives turned into a tragedy that changed his own forever. Since that day, he has been unable to work, leaving the family to navigate an uncertain future. Yet, in the middle of hardship, one thing never changed, Ilma’s determination. She continued to study with focus, consistently achieving top grades. Beyond academics, she is full of life, she loves playing badminton, enjoys dancing, and carries a spirit that refuses to be defined by circumstances. But continuing education was not easy. This is where Niaz Support, Pakistan’s top organization for persons with disabilities, stepped in, not just as support, but as a lifeline for the next generation. Through Subah Sehar, an education initiative of Niaz Support, the organization is dedicated to providing education for the children of persons with disabilities, ensuring that families affected by disability are supported beyond mobility. Ilma became part of this journey. Through the program, her education is supported through a structured system that provides access to schooling, along with the stability her family needs during difficult times. But beyond books and classrooms, this support brings something deeper, confidence, continuity, and the belief that her future is still within reach. For Ilma, this is not just about going to school. It is about becoming who she dreams to be. Despite everything her family has endured, her goal remains clear, she wants to become a doctor. A Dream That Refused to Fade: Arisha’s Journey Toward Hope and Education Arisha Arij is studying in Class 5 and dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She wants to help people who are suffering and make a meaningful difference through her education. Her life changed when her father suffered a serious accident and became permanently disabled. With the main source of income gone, the family faced growing financial pressure, and continuing school became uncertain. At this critical time, support came through Subah Sehar, an initiative by Niaz Support. Through this program, Arisha was given access to a scholarship, allowing her to continue her education without interruption. Subah Sehar focuses on providing scholarships in Pakistan for children of persons with disabilities, ensuring that these children are not left behind. Niaz Support, founded by Hussain Odhwani, is globally the first and one of the leading social enterprises working for the education of children of persons with disabilities. Its work continues to create opportunities, restore hope, and support families across Pakistan. Arisha now continues her studies with renewed confidence.
