Hope and Humanity in South Punjab: Customised Wheelchair Gifted in the Name of Late Haji Lal Din & Late Nabeela Abdul Hameed
In South Punjab, Pakistan, two deeply emotional yet hopeful stories reflect the reality of families living with muscular dystrophy under the broader issue of Disability in Pakistan. The first story is about a 9-year-old girl, Merab, who is suffering from muscular dystrophy, and sadly, her siblings are also affected by the same condition. Her father, a hardworking truck driver, carries the heavy responsibility of taking care of all his disabled children. Through the support of Niaz Support, a kind family gifted a customised wheelchair in the name of Late Haji Lal Din, giving Merab her very first experience of mobility. Her family is extremely grateful and is continuously praying for the soul of the donor and for blessings upon their family.
The second story is about an elderly man, Abdul Rasheed, who is also living with muscular dystrophy. His suffering is shared within his family, as three of his siblings are also affected by the same disability, making life extremely difficult for them. Despite these challenges, hope entered his life when a generous family gifted him a customised wheelchair in the name of Late Nabeela Abdul Hameed. For the first time, he was able to move independently, which brought tears of joy and deep gratitude to his eyes. He and his family are sincerely praying for the soul of the donor and for peace and blessings upon their family.
Both stories highlight the harsh reality of life with disability in Pakistan, where daily survival depends not only on strength and patience but also on the kindness of others. Whether caused by genetic conditions like muscular dystrophy or other life challenges often associated with accidents in Pakistan, these individuals rely heavily on support and compassion.
