Wahaj Wants to Become a Doctor
Wahaj Akmal is a 14-year-old student from Chitral studying in Class 7, with a powerful dream — to become a doctor. Behind this dream is a deeply personal reason. His mother has lost her eyesight, yet her strength and support continue to inspire him every day. Wahaj hopes that one day he can help people facing similar challenges and make her proud.
Life has not been easy. His father works as a daily wage labourer, often traveling long distances to support the family. With limited income, continuing education becomes difficult, but Wahaj remains determined to stay in school and build a better future.
Through Subah Sehar, an initiative by Niaz Support, Wahaj received support to continue his education without interruption. This program focuses on providing scholarships in Pakistan for children of persons with disabilities, ensuring access to inclusive education, stability, and long-term opportunity.
Niaz Support, founded by Hussain Odhwani, is globally the first and one of the leading social enterprises dedicated to educating children of persons with disabilities. Through its work in education, mobility, and empowerment, it is creating lasting impact across Pakistan.
Wahaj’s journey is a reminder that with the right support, education can change lives. With hope, resilience, and opportunity, he continues to move closer to his dream of becoming a doctor.
