From South Punjab with Love: Late Khadija Mushtaq’s Gift of a Customised Wheelchair to Maqsood
In a small village of South Punjab, 13-year-old Maqsood is living with a severe disability caused by spina bifida. Since birth, he has faced serious mobility challenges, which make it extremely difficult for him to move and attend school. Despite all hardships, Maqsood is a hopeful and determined child with one simple dream to have a customised wheelchair that could give him independence, dignity, and the ability to continue his education.
His father works on a daily wage, building houses to support the family, even while suffering from a serious kidney disease. Life is extremely difficult for them, and Maqsood’s mother shared her emotional struggle, explaining how painful it is for her to carry him to school and take care of his daily needs in a rural area where support is very limited. The family continues to fight every day with courage, despite all challenges.
Maqsood’s wish was fulfilled through the generosity of the family of the late Khadija Mushtaq, who gifted him a customised wheelchair in her name. It was a deeply emotional moment for the family. Maqsood’s mother, with tears in her eyes, expressed her gratitude, and both mother and son prayed for peace and mercy for the donor’s soul.
